Information About Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship
Before expressing about the opportunity, let’s first learn about the university itself. Charles Darwin University in Australia is a public university with a main campus located in Darwin and it has eight satellite campuses in some metropolitan and regional areas. The Chares Darwin University (CDU) is presently seeking applications and accepting for the 2024 mid-year Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship. The opportunity is available for both domestic and international students/candidates. The application round is now open. Those who meet the eligibility criteria can now submit their applications. These open scholarships are for commencement in a higher degree by research at CDU between July 1st and August 31st 2024.

Note: Domestic candidates are those who are Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia, and New Zealand citizens.
For those students or researchers who often think about how hard is it to get an RTP scholarship, the answer is that nothing is hard once you are committed, determined, meet the eligibility, and present yourself as the right candidate for any opportunity in the world.
The application rounds at Charles Darwin University (domestic and international) for scholarships starting in 2025 (1st January to around 30th March) will open after the present round of applications closes. Deadlines/closing dates for those rounds are expected to be September end for international applicants and October end for domestic students.
The current round of applications is ongoing and the applications will close on 12th April 2024 for international students. Applicants need to have a CDU supervisor to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship
- It is open to both domestic and international students.
- Applicants are required to be enrolled in an accredited HDR course of study at an Australian Higher Education Provider (HEP) and showcase outstanding research potential to undertake an HDR.
- The applicants have not to (must not) receive income from another source to support their general living expenses while enrolled in a study course if that income is higher (greater) than 75% of the RTP stipend rate.
Note: Income that is unrelated to their course of study or income received for the study course but not for the purpose of supporting general living costs is not considered.
Stipend Information (Financial Coverage)
- As far as the Australian Government RTP Stipend Scholarships are concerned, they are conferred to students who have exceptional research potential to undertake an HDR (Higher Degree Research) at a university in Australia and are not automatically offered to all students. These scholarships are offered to candidates to assist with their general living expenses.
- The successful candidates will receive AUS$32,192 (2024 rate) per year tax-free for full-time students paid in fortnightly installments.
- They will receive AU$16,096 (2024 rate) per year, taxable, for part-time students, to be paid in fortnightly installments.
Note: These are for 3 years full-time for a doctoral degree program and 2 years for a research Master’s program.
